The New Haven Police Department has issued an arrest warrant charging MIT researcher Qinxuan Pan with murder in the shooting death of Kevin Jiang ENV ’22, which occurred on Feb. 6. Pan was initially named a person of interest in the incident on Feb. 10.
According to Fox61, Pan’s bond is set at $5 million. There are two other warrants for Pan’s arrest: one for interstate theft of a vehicle and another for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
There is currently a $10,000 reward for any information regarding Pan’s whereabouts. U.S. Marshal Matthew Duffy confirmed to the New Haven Register that the U.S. Marshals Service intends to take him into custody on the arrest warrant for murder.
According to Duffy, Pan is believed to still be in Georgia. The U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force is now assisting in Pan’s apprehension.
Pan is considered to be armed and dangerous. Should a member of the public come into contact with Pan, police have urged “extreme caution.”
